Q2 Week 1
The movie I chose to watch is Spy Kids 2 The Island Of Lost Dreams
- The first Mise-en-scene of this movie is the setting. The setting is a mysterious island that is not able to be found with even the most high tech of technology. The island is made this way because of what is going on in the island like the ancient ruins with skeletons that move and the giant volcano that is surrounded by equal part desert and palm trees with tropical types setting with giant moutains everywhere to show how hug the island is. The setting is created this way in order to really give this island the mysterious/magical feel to it and to show the importance of how all technology is shut off when in radius of the island so that is in known by not many people or few people.
- The next Mise-En-scene is Lighting. Overall the whole movie is very bright because it Is mostly outside walking around the island. Of course this being basically a tropical island the sun is going to be a very strong factor. But certain time the lighting changes to this darkness with bright areas in the corner of certain areas where the sun is shining in. This lighting help a lot with the tropical feel of the island and to show how the main character have to deal with this beating sun because its of course go to be really hot. The lighting also gives the main character a orange/golf look to make them kind of look like gods because of course they're the main character and are the ones who will in the end be the heros.
- The third Mise-En-Scene is costume. The costume of this movie goes right along with the name of the movie. The costume are very spy like with high tech tactical cargo pants and jackets with tactical boots. The costumes are also accompanied by spy gear like watches that are very spy like and very high tech that do a variety of different things. The costumes also helps a lot with the way the viewers feel about the movie and how it gives the viewers a very spy like feel and almost like a more modern James Bond and the kids version of course. The costumes of the parents in the movie are exactly how you would picture spy parents. They dress like a mom and a dad that are a spy on the side.
- The last Mise-En-Scene is staging is very good all the actors play a very good spy and even the kids. The kids think just like how I would think if I was a spy at the age of 12. The parents too and how they are just trying to be parents who get caught up in being a spy and usually have to rescue themselves but are now rescuing there kids. Also the different actors like the annoying in laws who won't get of the fathers back but are also spy so are always critizingi the father of the way he is as a spy when in reality he is a very good spy and probably one of the best. The so called villain who is also a agent and is double crossing the oss Also plays this role very good with giving his kids all the good assignments and praise when in reality the main characters are the ones who are the better spies. All in all the staging was great and this is what really made me love the movie and the whole franchise of movies.
