In this part of planes it shows the Army veteran Skipper (who trains/trained dusty the main character) on his last and only mission. In this Over the shoulder shot it shows skipper leading his group of soldiers into what seemed to be one enemy ship to take out but really it was the whole enemy fleet and skipper and his soldiers basically flew right into their own demise. This scared skipper into never flying again. This shot making it a over the shoulder shot makes me feel like I'm actually there and makes me feel sad on what is going on.
This close up shot is showing Ripslinger the "villian" of the movie crushing a "air pad" of dusty flying amazing. This shows how Ripslinger is starting to get jealous at dusty for his success in flying. This foreshadows the event that happens where Ripslingers crew purposely breaks dustys antenna to get him lost and ends up on a Navy ship. Which end up leading to dusty almost drowning and dying because of the really bad weather. Dusty than had to get a bunch of work done to him in order to fly again. This shot makes me made because I think Ripslinger is a "douche" who needs to be humbled and I'm glad dusty end up doing just that.
This shot is a establishing shot of when dusty was first training with skipper. Dusty was being cocky and told skipper he wanted to go faster so skipper told him to fly higher in order to get a fast draft. So dusty flew higher and showed skipper his fear of heights which is crazy considering he is a plane and that is what planes do. This plays a major role in the movie considering the way he flies in the race is always fast and low which means he runs into a lot of problems especially in the Himalayans.
This is a over the shoulder shot of dusty right because bulldog got injured and blinded himself with his own liquid. Dusty in this scene became a hero when he guided bulldog to safety even though it meant that he was going to be in dead last. After this more people became aware of dusty and even bulldog who was mean to him in the begging end up crying and being very grateful towards dusty. This made be very happy on how dusty despite getting hated on by everyone still did the right thing and help someone in need.
In this low angle shot it shows skippers house were dusty is about to go and ask skipper for help on flying because a gas truck was helping him before and he was teaching dusty from a book which is not good because its not from experience. But skipper turns dusty down quick until dusty goes and tries out and gets really sad after he does not qualify. After skipper sees dusty sad he ends up teaching dusty because of why dusty wants to be in the race. This low angle shot makes skipper seem a lot stronger and scarier of a person and basically a grumpy old man.
I'm first starting off with working with the audio in including the music that is playing in the background also playing around with different sounds to in the end have the goofiest audio to ensure the audience understand the movie is comedy. Also Working with the transitions like dissolve category to make the opening the best and not just flat out starting with the clip of the rip. This week I mostly worked on the first 45 seconds to a minute of the intro than the next week finish off the rest.
What specific elements of the film opening did you like? What specific elements of the film opening did you dislike? Did this look like a movie opener and did it make you want to know what happens next? Explain. Was there anything that left you confused? (be specific) What suggestions do you have to make this movie opener better? I like the comedic elements and the emotion that the film brings. The camera angles were good as well. I disliked how the sounds did not match/fade. They were very choppy at some moments. It does not look like a movie opener, but like a short story. I feel as if it ends there other than wondering if the guy is okay. Nothing left me confused. I would add sound fades throughout the film. Also, better story significance would help hint that this is a movie opener. You should help us imagine and want to know what happens next. ABSOLUTELY PERF...
This week I worked with the light a little before moving on to the second part of my intro. I focused on making the movie look as smoothly as possible. I'm trying to make the movie look very professionally. This is my first time making a real comedy, I have made other small films for my tv production class last year so I have a some experience with premiere pro so I have caught myself going and watching other movie intro to ensure that I make the most of this film.
